(this one is pretty simple.)
In an attempt to keep some sort of order, the animals made themselves kingdoms based on their animals. There is only one ruler for each species, whether it be a duke, or a princess and such. The animal kingdoms all worship a goddess they know of that helps them and gives them advice in times of need. She watches over the island the kingdoms live on.

"There you go, sir," spoke a soft voice. The crab princess was making her daily routine, making sure to check all the reefs and popular rock spots for her crustacean subjects. She had just finished making an exchange of shells. One of her little friends needed a bigger home, and her tiara provided a lovingly new one. As she started to head up to where the land crabs usually hanged out, she heard the shrewd squawks of seagulls. Her eyes widened in concern and she pushed her legs hard enough to leap out of the water. The sudden burst of water startled some of the winged attackers, and she saw that her crabs were scuttling quickly to the safety of their homes under rocks. Unfortunately, looking up and glaring at the seagulls, one had captured a little one and was flying overhead with it. "BRING HER BACK DOWN!" she angrily barked, but the seagull just circled around, mocking her, and took off to a large, tall tree that all the spidercrabs Cecilia could command wouldn't be able to reach the first branch. Cecilia's heart sank, but she knew she just lost one of her darling subjects. "Why can't those damned flying rats eat fruit, or some of the bugs? There are tons of scraps left about by the chimps as well!" Cecilia was incredibly angry. This was at least the seventh time the birds had ignored her orders to stay away from the crabs! After checking with all her red and shelled friends, Cecilia angrily took off in search of the bird prince.

'The bird prince' was having a little break, his young spirit tired from working with order and numbers like a ruler should. He hadn't checked on the parrot's report. Or the seagulls. He found that seagulls were immature and occasionally didn't listen to anyone, so he should probably get to that. Instead he was flying through the air, doing flips and loops, feeling the wind sting his eyes, the rhythmic beating of his wings. He heard the call of a meeting, and further listening told him that the crab princess was here to ruin his fun. He started to fly back. 'More like crap princess,' he thought.

The Wolf King shook his hair and sniffed the air. It was feeding time and the hungry wolves were growing impatient. They wanted food, and soon. He turned his head towards the water. It sounded like bickering. Perfect. He led the pack in that direction.

Cecilia stood staring up at the overwhelmingly large treehouse above her. "My my...." she thought in bewilderment. It was a large tree indeed, with only a ladder to get to the giant fortress. She briefly thought of turning back and just forget about it, but her duty here was to ensure the future safety of her crabs. With that thought in mind she began to climb. Thankfully her legs were strong enough to last the entire climb, but her arms and hands felt rough and sore. She wiped her hands and started to walk elegantly to the throne room, expecting a certain someone to be there. "I must keep my composure," she thought, "so that I don't look an un-mannered fool." After all, a young lady like herself shouldn't stoop to the royal runt's stupid antics. Her mind was filling with ideas to deal with the situation, but to be honest the princess has a short temper. In the end she really was more a child than ever crustacean royalty. As she strode, she noticed branches filled with birds looking down upon her. It was bustling up here, birds flocked from one section of the treehouse to another. Cecilia was really out of her element up here.

Charlie landed on a thick branch nearest to his throne with grace. A nearby pigeon said to him, "Ah, she's there, in the throne room. I believe she used the old entrance. Up the ladder? Oh my." Charlie nodded and took a second to catch his breath. He hopped down onto the wooden floorboards and realized he was only wearing ratty pants, and it was too late to do anything about it. He only hoped his hair was charmingly windswept, and not a nest. And not a neat bird's nest either. He simply ran a hand through his hair and entered the large throne room, the branches around filled high and low with different types of birds. He found Cecilia waiting, slightly out of breath as well. His face lit up with a smile. "Good day, princess," he greeted with a polite bow. His smile turned sympathetic. "May I offer you a chair before we begin?"

"No, that's quite alright. I'm hoping that this meeting won't need to exceed any time limits. Or at least, it shouldn't." Cecilia looked the young prince up and down. His boyish face caught her off guard. Again. It was still difficult for her to comprehend the ruler of birds was 4 years younger than herself. A memory rose from when she was eight and frolicking amongst coral with a blue crab on her shoulder. She too was a young ruler once. However, Cecilia pushed the memory aside and started to lightly walk closer to the winged boy. "I'm here to discuss the matter of seagull attacks against my land crabs. Once. Again." She put a forcefulness on the last two words.

When Rodney and his pack got to the beach there was still evidence of the commotion that had taken place. He caught the sent of the Crab Princess and started to track her. The sent took him into the woods. He warned his wolves to tread lightly as to not make their presence known. The chance to capture dinner could come at any moment in here. He continued to track the sent.

Charlie's eyes widened. He knew he should have finished the reports first! He began to get very flustered. He turned to one of the gulls near him. "Send word out to your kind near the west shore. They are in big trouble." The bird flew off. "I'm terribly sorry, again, those seagulls are horrid creatures sometimes-- they don't listen to anyone but them---" his apology was cut off by a hawk landing near his feet and calling out "Sire, I am sorry to interrupt, but there is something urgent afoot." Charlie looked concerned. "Go on," he urged. The bird of prey replied, "There has been notice of a pack of wolves by a patrol led by the king. It seems they are up to no good, or hungry, or something, they are getting nearer." The hawk turned to Cecilia. "Miss, I'm afraid your kingdom may be in danger." A look of deep concern graced Charlie's face, his eyebrows tightly knitted together, he placed a hand on his chin, thoughtful. Cecilia piped up, "Ah, what is he saying to me...?" Charlie remembered she couldn't understand. "He tells of a wolf pack, led by the king. Apparently, with malicious intent. He fears for your kingdom."

Cecilia raised one eyebrow up at the hawk. "Well, its reassuring that most of your birds have some manners and a brain. I was beginning to lose hope," she joked. "Now, I am still not finished with this gull business, however it seems some other matters have come up." The Princess crossed her arms and lifted her head in a thoughtful expression. "Regarding the Wolf King; I don't think it will do him much good and his pack to feast on a half human half crustacean hybrid. I do not worry for my Kingdom either, if they sense danger I have made it so that defenses are taken." Cecilia started to pace about. "I would like to make it back to the west shore though, I do not like leaving my Kingdom in times of need." She stared at the leaves and branches, as if trying to search for her next move. She couldn't really get out without getting spotted on the ladder. If anything, she might as well just face the King. Maybe he would listen to reason....?

The Wolf King reached the area where the sent ended. It was the House of the Bird Prince. He could just smell all the different birds! He turned to address his pack. "You ready for supper, lads?" He said in a whisper. "Tonight is all-you-can-eat bird edition." Not thinking about the fact that he was the only one of his pack who could climb, he slunk up the ladder and crept into the Prince's glorified tree house.

In a burst of squawks and shrilled bird shrieks, the entire palace was erupt in tremendous noise. The birds were flocking about and seemed quite agitated. Cecilia and Charlie both looked at each other with a wave of understanding. Without warning Cecilia immediately headed to the entrance from which she came, leaving the bird prince in his throne room. Hopefully he would call in reinforcements for himself and protect his kingdom. Once near the entrance, Cecilia saw quite a figure with a bulky build. The Wolf King was intimidating indeed, but what he had in muscle he had less in smarts. The fool had come up himself in foreign territory! Not only that, but he was under estimating a quite agile princess indeed. She stood her ground and took a deep breath. "I see you dared to come up yourself, Wolf. Brave indeed," she boisterously announced. Cecilia noticed her voice go loud. She didn't dare show it, but she knew she was slightly nervous. Whenever she was uneasy she would try to make herself intimidating in voice compared to her small frame. The Crab Princess awaited a reply.

Hearing the princess' booming voice, Charlie quickly fired off commands to some nearby birds and swooped through the large doorway where the old entrance stood and landed, finding Cecilia and the wolf king? They were standing in the smaller room, facing each other off in a way. Rodney was alone, but he clearly came with a pack of his own. He seemed cocky. "Why are you here, beast?" Charlie asked.

Rodney was confused when the realization hit that his pack had not followed him. It was only then he remembered that the other wolves can't climb. He felt stupid, but he didn't let it show. He sneered at the other royals. "The pack's gotta eat, pretty boy." He said in a nice, low tone. The growl like gruffness mixed with the Scottish accent made a very interesting sound. "Not all of use can live off your caoch-for-food."

Charlie chuckled as he watched Rodney's face shift realized he was alone, but then turned serious as he heard that the wolves were hunting his family again. "We have rules for a reason, wolf." His wings flared out in anger. Anger at the thought his closest birds might've been hurt. Anger at this king's audacity to break a rule like this! "It's about respect. No matter how high you are on the food chain," he spat out. "You will not hunt my people again, you hear me?" Or I will be forced to hunt your's as well." Charlie's voice lowered.

"WHAT DO YOU EXPECT ME TO DO?!?" He bellowed. His Scottish accent becoming thicker as his rage exploded, making him only barely audible. "THE FREE GAME ARE DISAPPEARING!!! THERE IS NO LONGER ENOUGH FOOD TO FEED MY FAMILY!!!" His anger was frightening. Excess saliva pooled at the corners of his mouth and his voice could be heard a mile away. His face was curled menacingly and he was bearing his sharp, canine teeth. "I CANNOT LET THEM STARVE!! WHAT DO YOU PURPOSE I DO ABOUT THE PUPS?!? THEY WON'T SURVIVE MORE THAN A DAY OR SO WITHOUT A PROPER MEAL!! WHAT ABOUT THE ELDERS?!? THEIR BODIES ARE WEEK ENOUGH AS IT IS, WHAT DO YOU SUPPOSE I DO ABOUT THEM, HUH?!? TELL ME!!!" His temper was completely lost. His face was red with anger and he was panting with the tremendous effort he put into that little rant. His face was still curled in a fierce snarl.

What once was an aggressive stance faltered. The wings that were flared out instead curled around the human body as an instinctive impulse to protect. His pupils contracted, face contorted into fear, as the wolf king's mighty voice echoed around what seemed like the whole forest. He could only say, quiet, a whisper, "I don't know." He looked down, and cursed himself. Cursed himself for how young he was. How foolish he was. That he couldn't help the other ruler. He understood, of course, he had a family too, although not by blood. They all did, and that why it was forbidden for carnivores to hunt said family, but this was wrong. The island was in perfect balance, always plenty to eat for every single animal. For the carnivores to run out of food, for famine to threaten, means there was another entity playing the cards now. He said a small prayer to their goddess in hopes to find an answer.

Cecilia had heard the King's outburst, and was quite shocked. But when she noticed the Bird Prince himself needed assistance, she was here to oblige. Walking forward and setting herself slightly in front of the young royal, she held her hands together in a limp position. "Calm yourself Wolf, there is no need to be angry with a Kingdom that has no business with you. These birds, my crabs, are not at fault," she spoke calmly and clearly, not being fazed by the menacing drool slipping from his mouth. Noticing the King's fists tighten, she continued. "I understand that your in need and desperate, but blindly running around and acting an utter fool is ridiculous...." Cecilia paused. She felt a sense of discomfort and uneasiness, but she had to share this information with the King if the birds were to be left alone. Her as well. "There is a clearing near the north side. Animals of the sick or dying head there, including prey of yours. I would not recommend you eat the already passed, but sickness in your prey should not have an effect on you. You will most likely find some food there." This was highly classified information, seeing as Cecilia herself had made the clearing. It was a lovely place, and she made it so that those who died would die peacefully, with the view of the goddess temple in the distance. Only herself and one other used to know, but over time information must spread she supposed. She looked warily at the Wolf King.

"An utter fool, am I?" He whispered menacingly. He glared at the Crab Princess and he thought of trying to get his teeth through here caochan crab armor. He thought better of it and turned away. "Fine, I'll go to this clearing you speak of, but what about tomorrow? Or the day after? What will we do then? Somethings going askew on this island and it's affecting all the carnivores! Soon all of them will be after ye! The lions, tigers, coyotes, EVERYONE! I'll be back here tomorrow. If you don't have any answers, you will be breakfast." And with that he turned and left the giant bird house. He led the pack in the direction of the clearing.

Once the Wolf King had left, Cecilia let her shoulders relax. "I am not the almighty Goddess; go consult her of your predicament..." she had thought when she observed the King lead his pack of ravenous, rabid dogs. She turned to address to the bird prince. "The clearing is of no importance to us. It is for the ones whom are to pass into the next world. We can die peacefully in our own Kingdom, surrounded by home and such. The animals of this island have to fend for themselves most times, and we cannot prevent a sickness. I thought that they deserved an area for themselves. Many of your subjects are aware of this place." The crab princess looked above her and reflected the same curious looks some of the birds were giving her.

Cecilia regarded the bird prince once more, and began to head down the tree. Before starting her descent, she briefly looked up and yelled "I do hope you remember our conversation about before!" It took her awhile to get back down, but soon enough she was heading back to the watery abode of her home.

Charlie took to pacing back in his throne room, wondering what the lack of food, it seems was apparent, could mean. He spent a long time thinking. (He didn't even finish his work for the day) The bird boy went to his bed troubled, and had strange dreams.

Cecilia scuffed her feet at the ground, kind of dazily walking along until she could hear the soft crash of waves again. She hadn't yet noticed the skulking figure nearby, until a low snicker caught her attention and snapped her back to her senses. Tensing up, she swiftly looked about, but relaxed a bit once the scaley acquaintance made her appearance.
"No need to look so damn alarmed Cecilia dear," Zula announced. Her long, menacing nails traced down the trunk of a tree and she moved about in such an ominous way. Noticing the crabby princess was slightly annoyed, she tried to reveal her sincerest smile. Only, having glistening fangs glaring in your eyes isn't as comforting as you would think.
Crossing her arms, Cecilia regarded the reptilian empress with acute contempt. She had startled her! With the wolf king trying to attack before, this was another one of the more royalties you had to be cautious about. Of course, she was aware that the empress wouldn't try anything. Zula and her sort of had an odd arrangement; where Zula had discovered the secret area. Cecilia was sure she was going to use it to her own means at the time, but Zula had acted quite reasonable about it. "As long as my brothers and sisters may see the goddess before they pass, I will not harm any animals whilst here," she had annoyingly hissed.
The Empress and Princess made their small talk, but it lasted briefly. Zula sensed the younger one to be tired, and she herself was feeling slightly famished. The two parted and Cecilia went back to the western shore, whilst Zula headed deeper into the forest.

Naddie ran through the forest as fast as she could, throwing grace completely out the window. She stumbled slightly on a root and the cub in her burly arms whimpered in pain. She stroked the young one's fur and whispered soothing words as she raced towards the fucking tree-house in the sky; this was the last straw! Those damn birds would find things and drop them in the rivers all the time! She had tried to be reasonable at first, explaining how it affected her people but nothing had worked. The Grizzlies had put up with is for a while - Naddie understood it was hard to control so many tiny creatures - but this was personal. One of her own had been hurt. The bird Prince would pay this time.

Charlie was once again pacing for the third time this morning. Pacing the length of his court...throne....meeting room. He hadn't given it a title. Occasionally he'd stop to give orders to a nearby aves, but mostly he was pensive. He didn't notice a patrol leader's passing remark of another ruler coming to perimeter.

Adrianne had snuck away from her pride for the morning. She needed some time to herself, or more, time with someone other than her family. It was a beautiful day what good would it be to waste it? So she decided to head to the shore to bathe and refresh herself. The sun was beaming down on her face when she reached the beach, she closed her eyes and absorbed it's warmth. Laying in the sun was her favourite pass time, which also meant coming to visit her friend Cecilia was also her favourite pass time. When she was with her they would usually stay around the sand and the open space where Adrianne could listen to her friend talk, but still have her time in the sun. As she walked closer she could feel the sea spray on her skin through her tattered clothes. She stood staring at the sea and around her trying to spot Cecilia.

The water distorted the view, but Cecilia was certain there was a figure. Seeing the familiar orange of her friend, Cecilia smiled lightly and jumped out of the water, intentionally spraying Adrianne with a few droplets. Having these little get-togethers was always an activity Cecilia enjoyed immensely. "Well look who's here!" she half-laughingly said.
